A Head Start For Entrepreneurs

The Northside Development Group will be partnering with the University of South Carolina's George Dean Johnson Jr. College of Business and Economics to offer a program for promising local entrepreneurs.

Start:ME is an entrepreneurship accelerator program modeled after an Atlanta based program designed by Emory University. The program provides participants with 14 weeks of business training, allowing participants to learn to develop their business plan, build relationships with individuals who will support their business, and present their business to lenders. This program is an initiative to help locals form successful small businesses within the community.

At the end of the 14 week program, the top businesses will be awarded a loan to help finance their entrepreneurial endeavors. Entrepreneurs will share their business, offered services and products at a Customer Experience Event and Showcase at the Farmers Market at Harvest Park. The program is open to individuals in the Northside and the surrounding neighborhoods that are in the Cleveland Academy of Leadership's attendance area.

* Program takes place every Tuesday from 6pm to 9pm. For enrolled participants only.

Recruitment for the 2018 Start:ME participants will begin October 30th, 2017.
